The MutualOne Charitable Foundation has awarded $10,000 to the Natick Service Council to support the organization’s Heart Healthy Food Pantry program. Announcement of the grant was made today by Steven M. Sousa, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MutualOne Bank and a Foundation trustee.

According to Executive Director Dan Shea, the Heart Healthy Food Pantry program is a supplemental food pantry providing clients with perishable and non-perishable staples.

“During the past year, the pantry has distributed over 200,000 pounds of food,” said Sousa. “We are grateful for their efforts and pleased to be able to assist.”

Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and Chairman of the MutualOne Charitable Foundation has announced a $5,000 grant to the MetroWest ESL Fund. The donation will support Framingham Adult ESL’s remote English language instruction.

According to Judy Salerno, director of Adult ESL, the Fund will purchase Chromebooks which will be lent to students who lack technical resources.

“We are pleased to support MetroWest ESL’s efforts as they shift to online learning in response to the COVID-19 crisis,” said Haranas.

The donation will support the Daniel’s Table Womb to 5 program providing pregnant women and their families nutritional and social service support to lead healthier lives. This is the second donation the MutualOne Charitable Foundation has made to Daniel’s Table this year.

“Daniel’s Table has been addressing food insecurity issues in the area for years. They have expanded their outreach during the COVID crisis, and we are pleased to assist their efforts,” said Haranas.

Steven M. Sousa, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MutualOne Bank and a MutualOne Charitable Foundation trustee, announced that the Foundation has awarded a $9,100 grant to A Place To Turn in Natick.

A Place To Turn assists low-income MetroWest families and individuals with basic needs such as food and diapers. The MutualOne award provides funding for their “Eat Fresh” program offering clients fresh fruits and vegetables in addition to routine food pantry items. This is the eighth consecutive year that the MutualOne Charitable Foundation has contributed to the “Eat Fresh” program, according to A Place to Turn Executive Director Joanne Barry.

“We are happy to help this time-tested program that takes traditional food pantry selections to a fresher, healthier level,” said Sousa.”

Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and Chairman of the MutualOne Charitable Foundation, announced today that the Foundation awarded $10,000 to support Framingham’s Jail Diversion Program that pairs specially trained crisis clinicians with police officers to respond to mental health related calls for service and 911 calls.

According to Acting Police Chief Ronald Brandolini, there are currently three clinicians available to provide immediate on-the-scene de-escalation, assessment and referrals for individuals in crisis assigned to the three shifts. This grant will support adding a fourth clinician to the program for an even more extensive coverage of the three shifts and weekends.

“The primary goal of this program is to redirect individuals committing non-violent crimes out of the criminal justice system and into more appropriate health services,” said Haranas. “It is an effort that we are pleased to support.”
