Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and Chairman of the MutualOne Charitable Foundation, announced a $15,000 grant to the Framingham Public Library Foundation (FPLF) to assist in their purchase of technology for a new Teen Room in the Main Library.

“The pandemic has been particularly stressful for young adults, making the new Teen Room more important than ever,” said Haranas. “The FPLF is a wonderful resource for Framingham, and we are pleased to support them.”

Steven M. Sousa, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MutualOne Bank and a Foundation trustee, announced a $5,000 grant to Mass Audubon to support a new partnership between Mass Audubon and the Framingham Public Schools.

“Mass Audubon seeks to increase the environmental literacy of 1st to 8th grade students in afterschool classes,” said Sousa. “The program’s unique design pairs Mass Audubon teacher-naturalists with local educators to teach every class. It’s an effort we are pleased to support.”

“Over the past six months, the Greater Framingham Community Church has increased the number of families they serve, but are limited by their refrigeration capacity,” said Haranas. “This grant will enable them to purchase an additional refrigerator and provide funding for their food pantry. We are pleased to support them in these efforts.”

Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and a MutualOne Charitable Foundation trustee, announced today that the foundation has awarded $5,000 to the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired to support their assistive technology training services for older adults, offered in partnership with the Natick Community-Senior Center.

“The Natick training center and current remote services help individuals with vision loss learn to use technology that impacts their everyday lives, tools that have been especially vital during the pandemic,” said Haranas. “It is very gratifying to be able to support such a worthwhile effort in our local community.”

The Framingham Clubhouse focuses on offering quality out-of-school programs to low-income and at-risk youth. “We believe that every child needs access to focused academically enriching programs as our community recovers from this past year and we are proud to offer these services to the youth of Framingham,” said Chris Duane, president & CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest.

“We are proud to have supported the Boys & Girls Clubs for many years,” said Haranas. “They have always filled an important role in our community as shown by this new initiative.”

“The Natick Service Council collaborates with the community to support neighbors experiencing hardship or economic uncertainty by promoting self-sufficiency,” said Sousa. “We are pleased to make our contribution to their efforts.”
