Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and Chairman of the MutualOne Charitable Foundation has announced a $7,000 grant to support the Local Initiative for Family Empowerment (LIFE) program at Family Promise Metrowest.

The LIFE program is a homelessness prevention program supporting families with children who are not yet homeless, but are at risk of eviction, said Executive Director Sue Crossley.

“Early intervention is the best way to combat homelessness,” said Haranas. “The LIFE program provides subsidies to pay rent in arrears and advocacy with the landlord. We are glad to offer our support.”

Steven M. Sousa, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MutualOne Bank and a MutualOne Charitable Foundation trustee has announced a $3,000 grant to Framingham’s Ovations for the Cure of Ovarian Cancer to support their Helping Hands program.

The Helping Hands program provides selected patients undergoing active chemotherapy treatments with fully prepared, flash frozen meals for their use, according to Executive Director Susan Paterson.

“Among the many challenges faced by ovarian cancer patients is maintaining a healthy, well-balanced diet,” said Sousa. “The Helping Hands program fills that role, and we are very happy to assist.”

Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and Chairman of the MutualOne Charitable Foundation has announced a $10,000 grant to support the summer camp program at Musterfield Place, a residential development managed by the Framingham Housing Authority.

The grant will cover costs to hire additional summer staff and allow the camp to provide a more memorable experience, stated Framingham Housing Authority Executive Director Paul Landers.

“In these difficult times, it is important to maintain some semblance of normalcy,” said Haranas. “This is the fifth consecutive year we have contributed to the summer camp, and this may be the most critical year.”

Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and Chairman of the MutualOne Charitable Foundation has announced a $3,960 grant to Edwards Church in Framingham to support their effort to offer healing, appreciation and support to veterans in the Metrowest area.

According to Pastor Rev. Dr. Deborah Clark, the Veterans Outreach Program provides free weekly yoga classes – currently offered via Zoom – and an Annual Veterans Day Appreciation event.

“For years, Edwards Church has recognized the need for support for veterans and soldiers returning from deployment,” said Haranas. “It gives us great pleasure to contribute to their efforts.”
