$3,000 MutualOne Foundation grant will help enhance youth technology at Natick library

The MutualOne Charitable Foundation has awarded $3,000 to Natick’s Morse Institute Library to increase the number of educational technology tools available to local youth, according to Foundation Chairman Robert P. Lamprey.

The Library hopes to grow its collection of technology-based materials for children, including educational tablets and audiobooks, in order to expand its offerings to a larger youth audience, particularly those youngsters with limited access to such resources.

“MutualOne is pleased to help the library enhance its technology offerings so that all children, regardless of their means, can have access to this vital learning experience,” said Lamprey.

MutualOne awards $5K to benefit Natick elders with chronic diseases

Steven M. Sousa, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MutualOne Bank and a MutualOne Charitable Foundation trustee, has announced a $5,000 Foundation award to the Natick Service Council’s Healthy Eating, Chronic Disease Management and Food Rescue program.

According to Greg Tutuny, executive director, NSC’s initiative is designed to improve the health status of elders through individual chronic disease management plans that include increased access to nutritious food and literacy programs.

“MutualOne is pleased to support the Natick Service Council’s efforts to improve the overall health of the elder residents they serve through this program,” said Sousa.

Sambuchi, Canal, Cohen elected to new officer positions at MutualOne Bank

The Board of Directors of MutualOne Bank has elected three employees to new officer positions, according to an announcement today by Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO.

Kimberly Sambuchi of Framingham was elected first vice president and Carmela Canal of Hopkinton was elected vice president. Kimberly Cohen of Natick was elected assistant vice president and assistant controller.

Sambuchi
Kimberly Sambuchi, who previously served as vice president of operations, is now responsible for all information management. She joined the Bank in 2002 and has held positions with increasing responsibility in the retail and client service areas.

Sambuchi is a graduate of Framingham High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Boston University and a master’s degree in business administration from Framingham State University. She is also a graduate of the New England School for Financial Studies.

Canal
Carmela Canal, who previously served as branch administrator, will oversee operations and data processing. She has been with MutualOne Bank since 1988 and has served in a variety of retail management roles during her career.

Canal, a Framingham South High School graduate, earned a degree in business management at Newbury College. She also graduated from the New England School for Financial Studies.

Cohen
Kimberly Cohen, who joined the Bank in 2014, will coordinate internal Bank controls and provide support for other departments within the Bank.

A graduate of Natick High School, Cohen has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Assumption College and a master’s degree in business from Framingham State University. She is a Certified Public Accountant with previous experience at Middlesex Savings Bank and Gerald T. Reilly & Co.

$10K MutualOne grant supports Resiliency for Life at Framingham High

Resiliency for Life logo Resiliency for Life (RFL), a successful drop-out prevention program at Framingham High School, has received a $10,000 grant from the MutualOne Charitable Foundation. Announcement of the grant was made today by Steven M. Sousa, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MutualOne Bank and a Foundation trustee.

According to Jug Chokshi, Executive Director, RFL strategies include intense academic monitoring, advocacy with teachers and administrators, strict program rules and clear expectations, development of personal responsibility, and prep classes for the MCAS and SAT tests. In the last three years, every single RFL student has graduated, and graduated on time. Last year, RFL launched a middle school program at the Cameron, with the goal of serving all three Framingham middle schools within 3 years.

“This program has an excellent track record of keeping students who are at academic risk from dropping out of school and failing to graduate,” said Sousa. “MutualOne is pleased to support the goals and values of Resiliency for Life, realizing the significant positive impact this program can have on the future of our community.”
